for months now, wolf. but certainly the kucduchess of cambridge in the hospital on her own. prince william came up with her but there's some degree of concern as they came up to london. not in ambulances but in cars. he's just left the hospital. and royal sources saying they're not overly concerned about the condition of the duchess. but they're concerned enough to come to the hospital. also concerned now have to announce this early because she is still not 12 weeks pregnant. they weren't planning to announce this at this point. but they were forced into it because of the hospitalization. and the queen and the prince of wales, william's father, were informed today that she was pregnant. so this was meant to be under raps. it isn't any longer. the duchess being treated in the hospital for -- being given nutrients being given hydration treatments and being given rest crucially, that's a crucial thing they must have at this point. >> give us a little sense of the excitement, the reaction in britain right now to this news. >> reporter: well, we've been waiting for it for over a year now, wolf,

are expecting. today william was back at the hospital who is being treated for an acute case of morning sickness. there he was going in earlier today. let's talk about kate first. i mean, this type of morning sickness that she has been suffering from affects 1 in 50 women and occurs more often when the woman is expecting twins. how is kate doing today? >> reporter: that's right. we're told that she will be in there for a few days and after that may need bedrest because what they describe is very acute morning sickness. it's pretty serious and she needs specialized treatment. you mentioned twins. just to look at the front page of one of our england's most conservative papers, could it be twins for kate? now, we don't know this. this is, frankly, speculation and the fact that you get a headline like this shows you how excited the country has become but it is the case, they say, that in cases like this, acute morning sickness, twins are more likely. and there is no history of twins in the middleton family or in the royal family. so we don't think it would necessarily be genetic if it were the case

the late monsignor william kerr who served as laroche's president for 12 years. it was during his tenure that the college established the scholarship program for outstanding college-age men and women from conflict and post conflict nations such as rwanda and boss kneea. the i.n.s. -- bosnia. the institute allows students to receive an education at laroche college to study leadership and diplomacy in return for their agreement to return to their host country, home country, after graduation to help engage in the peace process and rebuild their nations. the institute successfully reflects the college's vision and mission to foster global citizenship. and that program over the years has created a bond with some of these countries, it is unlike any other institution of higher learning, in america. it has had students go through the program that have gone back to their home countries, that have very successfully become leaders in those countries and we are better off as a nation and as a global community because of their work and because of that program which initiated and continues at laroche
